GOAL: To provide NEP members with financial assistance to be used towards professional development opportunities. Funds can support skill-building workshops; regional gatherings and/or residency opportunities; organizational development and tools, as well as attending presenter conferences, showcases, or performances that require travel and incurred expenses.
The Professional Development Fund is a benefit of active membership and participation in NEP.
WHO CAN APPLY
Priority to be given to new professional development opportunities for the applicant, and activities that offer value (direct/ indirect) to NEP membership and the arts community in New England at large. Applicants must be active NEP members.
Priority will be given to emerging arts administrators, cultural organizers, and leaders of color. NEP Board Members are permitted to apply. Individuals can only be awarded once per year. Member organizations can only apply once per fund cycle.
Maximum amount of request will not exceed $500 (range of $100-$500 accepted). A total of $2,000 will be dispersed each year. Deadlines will be rolling. Requests must be made at least two months prior to professional development. Funds may cover necessary tools and skill-building materials or training, mileage, economy class transportation, meals, lodging, admission, conference or showcase registration fees.
Applicants will be required to fill out a simple application form, stating purpose of request and intended values to the applicant, the applicant’s position/ organization, NEP membership, and arts region. Once selected, the recipient will receive a payment of the approved amount by check.
Following the professional development, the recipient will send a simple report with a final budget and a description of the impact of the funds. In addition, when possible the recipient will share their learnings with the larger NEP community either through a short presentation or with updates digitally. Funds will be dispersed no more than 30 days prior to professional development and recipient must return funds in the event that program does not occur.
Applications will be reviewed by NEP subcommittee made up of 2-3 active NEP members, to include 1-2 NEP board members. Subcommittee members will serve for one year and will rotate off at the start of new membership period.
